Gymnastics is a lifestyle, not only a sport. It is the foundation of all sports, with something for every age and ability.
Is it for me?
Our Adult gymnastic class is a great place for those who have done gym in the past and want to get back to it, or those who have never done gym before. It provides a safe, challenging and supportive environment to learn new skills.
We recommend that those attempting this class should already have some degree of strength, flexibility and coordination - whilst fitness is developed, a reasonable base level of fitness is required to properly participate.
How does it work?
The class has one or two dedicated coaches who help gymnasts develop skills on floor, and also on other apparatus. There is a focus on tumbling and acrobatic skills and general strength and flexibility development, but any gymnastic elements can be worked towards and the class is not limited to use of the floor.
Classes currently run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 8:00-10:00 at the Clarice Rd venue. A free trial lesson is available, after which gymnasts must purchase lessons in order to attend, which can be done in advance from the office or by handing a completed payment slip to the coach at the beginning of the lesson.
The following payment options are available, and all expire at the end of the calendar year:
- 1 class - $25.00
- 5 classes - $21.00 each
- 10 classes - $18.00 each
- 20 classes - $15.00 each
How do I join?
You can come along for a free trial lesson at any time - please contact the office if you wish to confirm that the class is running that week. When you arrive at the gym, wait in the seating area for the coach to come over, then join in! The coach will at the end of class give you the necessary paperwork to enrol if you'd like to come back.
Comfortable clothes which will not catch are fine for Adult Gym. T-shirt/singlet and shorts/track pants/leggings or a leotard are ideal. Please also ensure that you are appropriately attired for the types of activity to be undertaken - running, jumping, tumbling, being upside down, etc. Overly revealing tops are not acceptable. Hair should be tied back, and the wearing of jewellery is not permitted in the gym. Barefoot is best, and gymnasts should make sure they bring a drink bottle to each class.
Our Adult Gymnastics Coordinator is Ben Pocklington. He can be contacted if you have any questions about the program by email or through the office. If you just wish to book a trial lesson, you should contact the office for a quicker response.
